Great sushi to pick up for a quick lunch and the staff are very friendly.

Tozai is a lovely neighborhood Japanese supermarket. The store may be small, but they carry everything from your essentials for cooking (soy sauce, mirin, soba dipping sauce etc), soba/Udon (both packaged and frozen - tip, get frozen udon not packaged for the best taste, it will taste like what you get at restaurants), to ready-to-eat meals (onigiri, Japanese chicken (karaage), rolls, sushi and sashimi). Small selection of veggies and fruits. I always go to Tozai for routine Japanese grocery items and find that it suits my need 99% of the time. Sure, once or twice a year I go to Tokyo Central or Mitsuwa in Downtown to go crazy at the snack selection, but besides those rare times, Tozai is my place.

Small Japanese market in strip mall. Convenient location near the freeway. It has the basics with focus in ready made food. It’s a very good place for a quick lunch. There are also snacks, drinks, and fresh vegetables. Sashimi it’s ready made and in blocks.

Little Japanese market which has been here as far back as I can remember. I like purchasing the food they readily have available. There is also sushi in the fridge to the right of the sushi counter/window.

New location at a new store! Small local market with limited hours. Def a spot where you grab lunch and some essentials. They have assorted lunches and meals packed to-go! So delicious. Everything I have gotten here has hit the spot. From futomaki, chirashi, to oyako-don -all very yummy! They carry mochi from Fugestu-do. What you won’t know until you go, items are limited and you gotta go right before peak times to get the best variety. I came after the lunch rush on a weekday and they didn’t have too much cold sushi. They items that always seem to be in stock are the spam musubi, onigiri, and rice plates. If you love fried wontons- get the spicy crab fried wontons!! I got this on my last trip and for like $1.80 I got at least 5 or 6 fried wontons with imitation crab inside. The best part? It was actually crispy when I got home! I was expecting it to be stale and soft since they were sitting out but nope! I regretted not buying them all up!

At 1pmish I find most of the items are sold out, and prices are higher than other stores like Toyoko Central, almost 20% mark up. There is no specials or sales. Small mom and pop shop, so good luck to them. What is good convenient location, ample parking spaces, and if you are looking for an ingredient for a dish, don't mind the prices, you will find it here.

They have great little snacks and food to go. They also make fresh stuff to go and seems they are popular for huge sushi platters and combos. I was here for new years and they had a lot of sushi platters for pick up. The sushi is good and fresh. They also have some really good spam musubi. A good assortment of Japanese/Asian foods, snacks and drinks.
